Health care in Awom, as in most of Africa, remains lacking. Our fundraising goal is to raise an average of $50-$75 per person in Awom. Considering the lack of insurance plans and widespread poverty, health expenditure is generally financed by out-of-pocket payments.
We seek donor attention or contribution to help us fight common illnesses and do preventive care against common illnesses like HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and other infections caused by poor hygiene. We note that there is lack of adequate infrastructure to deliver health care due to the lack of trained medical personnel to service the inhabitants. As area economies improve or become destroyed by current political instability, it will only become obvious that demand for good quality health care will only increase further.
Health care, being a public service, means that a good healthcare program will be servicing more than the population of Awom. To manage this, it’s our added intent to identify and work with all the critical players – governments, donors, investors, volunteers, and providers – to leverage the private health sector and integrate it effectively with other public systems in the vicinity for us to greatly improve the quality of care for our people in that vicinity.
We are thus hoping that a population of over five thousand people will be served through our limited capability. We seek support. We seek collaboration as we engage options to provide better care to a people that have lived far away from major medical facilities due to distance, lack of adequate transportation, poor care management, and lack of knowledge and money. It’s our intent that as a non-profit, we may provide other products and services that are not otherwise available, such as advanced medical equipment, technical equipment for medical procedures, diagnosis, hospital beds, medical supplies, and medicines.
Meeting these goals through our efforts will help reduce the burden on government but in return, expand access to health care, create access to modern medicine, and increase people’s lifespans. In making this come through,
- ADA will work with local businesspeople, financial intermediaries, policymakers, donors, and other stakeholders in the local and international community.
- ADA intends to raise $75,000 for the establishment of health care system within a 5-year period.
- ADA intends to create a revenue vehicle for future health care needs.
- ADA intends to focus on preventing and teaching on common diseases, health hazards, and prevention.
- Appropriately, ADA may secure bank loans or raise funds to meet the demands of these projects.
- ADA will provide advisory services and as appropriate to any ongoing projects on the ground or build the capacity of local financial intermediaries and health care companies.
- Working with governments or appropriate authorities and individuals to reform private health care regulation and expand public-private partnerships.
Funds granted will also be utilized to purchase health and medical supplies, (blankets, mosquito nets, wound care supplies, care management items as anti-insect bites, food items, and other appropriate supplies for health education and management) ADA is also seeking alliances to supply, manage, send these supplies to the ground, and ensure an efficient system of delivery to these people in need. Our estimated budget for 2019 is to raise funds of over $15, 000.00 for food and basic health supplies to start the health care process (manage BP, maintain an activity level, cease smoking, maintain weight, manage stroke, cholesterol, basic health labs, and screening). It’s also envisaged that vaccines, other health screenings, and healthcare management programs will be initiated.
