As the population continues to grow, farm productivity must accelerate to avoid hunger. Leverages through use of technology are limited by financial issues. And sometimes its uneconomical for smaller farms to invest in expensive tools. Food production challenges are multipronged including but not limited to;

  • Low farm productivity
  • Lack of food production and or food preservation knowledge,
  • Lack of appropriate tools
  • Growing population
  • Worsening / low productivity of farm land
  • Use of better farming tools than hoes and cutlasses
    knowledge and application of technology in food production, preservation and processing as knowing whether conditions, soil data and temperature to determine better farm conditions to increase productivity and limit waste.

Considered solutions may include financial solutions that motivate more farming, use of more efficient tools, access to markets and better crop seedlings partnering with the ministry of agriculture etc. Use of technologies that bring farming advice, weather forecasts, market information, and financial tips to farmers, who are traditionally out of reach, due to barriers in connectivity, literacy, language finances etc.

Technology also is improving and making farming exciting for young people and turning farming into business . Some traditions that hinder farming will have to be examine including the use of appropriate preservation and storage techniques.
