Dear Members and Friends,

2020 was indeed a difficult year, as we went through COVID -19 pandemic, and along came an economic recession that affected many lives. Our sympathies, to everyone for health-related complaints or loss of a family member.

We have now closed 2020 and hopefully open into the new and better year of 2021.

The world is changing too fast for us to even stay asleep. We call for a pathway better day for us all. Our parents, that showed us the road to growth, may have lived a harder life for us to grow and live up to the responsibility of transforming the lives of today into a better tomorrow.

Money continues to remain a major hindrance to most activities as we continue to seek help. But, certainly, with everyone, giving their “widows mite “yearly, we can mobilize to seek the rest from grants, fundraisers, and individual contributions. The challenges ahead of us are enormous and the world is advancing too fast for us to stay behind and still live in poverty, sickness, and pain.

Starting this chain of improvements during these tough times is not easy. Where do we start, what do we do? These are all pertinent questions. The good news is that we have started and someday to all that is good for all. Good healthcare for all, clean water for all, a tarred road, solar, electricity, community center, and who knows what the Lord has for us?

We thank all who have chipped in so far, we thank Bah J. N. Fomunyoh for the site for a community center, special thanks to Patrick Mutah Fomunyoh for the Chibi rhythm song that now defines us on our website (www.awomdev.org). All these, opened the door for us to fight our challenges. This community center will be a place for us all (child, woman, man, visitor, etc) to sit and put our minds together as we go forward to better days. Our cultural values are love not hatred, happiness not pain, growth for us all, and not witchcraft. We don’t have much money, and this road will be bumpy, we may argue and disagree but a future than today is ours. The only institutions (three churches in Awom) will pray for us.

To the old generations, we thank you for leading us to where we are. To the generation of internet, computer center, solar energy, cell phones, charging stations, Zoom, etc will be of the past and you will carry Awom to better heights and EMBRACE opportunities to make our world of tomorrow better. Obstacles will come and go BUT your support will continue. Our ambitions are high, our pockets low, but our little sacrifices will get us to the promised land. Some will fall asleep on the wheel but our mutual efforts will get us there.
